A thirteen-year primary six girl was found dead in her bed after she was allegedly strangled by a house boy.
The body of Priscilla Nsaba who has been a pupil at Narambhai primary
school in Jinja town was discovered at her grandmother’s home along
Gabula road in Jinja central division, a few metres from the school and
the central police station.
Neighbours told New Vision that they were informed of Nsaba’s death by
her young brother Edgar Agaba, and upon checking they found her body
lying in bed covered with a blanket.
It is alleged that the suspect only identified as Hillary, first defiled Nsaba before killing her.
Agaba a P.3 pupil narrated that at night as they slept, Hillary pounced
on Nsaba and beat her up before strangling her using a rope. He then
reportedly packed some household property and disappeared.
Jinja District Police commander, Apollo Kateeba said Nsaba and Agaba had
been left under the care of Hillary, by their grandmother, Jane Rwenzo
who on Sunday travelled to Mbarara district to attend a burial.
He added that Rwenzo left Nsaba with sh20,000 for their upkeep, which
the police suspect could have been Hillary’s target but ended up killing
the girl because she refused to hand it to him.
Kateeba said investigations into the murder are ongoing as police hunt for the suspect who is still at large.
Meanwhile, by Wednesday police were still searching for the body of an
unknown boda boda cyclist who is said to have drowned in River Nile near
the Jinja agricultural show grounds on Friday.
It is said the cyclist was hired by an exhibitor to carry her property
after the recently concluded show but did not deliver it to the intended
destination. When he was threatened with police action, the cyclist
reportedly ran towards the river where he drowned.
